This workshop will address how and why boys become disengaged with learning and school. Participants will examine the data that indicates how boys are losing ground and they will learn how to assess the data on boys in their own building. In particular, this workshop will take a hard look at how to reach boys before it is too late. A particular area of focus will be reading and how boys fall further behind when they transition from “learning to read to reading to learn.”

Participants will learn how to identify boys who are troubled and what strategies are needed to more fully engage boys in their learning.
